On Tuesday 12 May we set out to Killarney, Eire. We travelled via
Holyhead to a very smart hotel (The Glenview) just south of Dublin.
The next day we went by coach to Killarney. We stopped off at the
Jameson Whiskey distillery and arrived in Killarney at tea time.
On Thursday we had a full programme organised by the Local tourism
office. We visited Muckross Castle - we got there by Horse drawn
'Jaunty car' and later in the day we had a cruise from Ross Castle
out onto Killarney Lake. This was followed by a civic reception
at our hotel. Next morning we had a rehearsal and then time off
to explore the Killarney area as we wished . That evening we sang
in St Mary's Church of Ireland in Killarney.
Over the weekend we went on coach tours around the area - Saturday
to the Bearsa Peninsula and Sunday to the Dingle area. That evening
we joined the Kerry Choral Union to sing in St John's Church in
Tralee. We returned to the Dublin area on Monday and had a riotous
evening at the 'Merry Ploughboy ' pub. On Tuesday we reluctantly
sailed away from Eire and got back to Lancaster about 7pm.
